This is not a typical Monday. It is true that we will get up in the morning, brush our teeth and make coffee, but there will be no rush typical for each day. You will not wake up the children, rush them and walk to the kindergarten in the morning. There will also be no typical SOFIQ’s meeting in the kitchen, stories such as “how was the weekend” and a nice conversation with the postwoman. It has changed a bit.

It cannot be said that the coronavirus invaded our lives suddenly and without warning, because it had been present somewhere in the background for several months. From week to week, it was more interesting for us, until it became so important that the Board of SOFTIQ organized a meeting and issued recommendations in order to protect us all from infection. I think it wasn’t quite clear to us at that time that this was not a futuristic vision of the world, but a reality in which we would function. A week has passed since that meeting and the world looks quite different.
We brew coffee at home today. Many of us do this in the company of our children. For some time, they will accompany us in our professional life. They will become its permanent part and this will be the next lesson we will learn. Sounds bad? Think positive.

As a company from the IT industry, we are lucky that working in home office mode is not something special for us. Many IT developers (and others) are used to work remotely but it is a challenge and test for entire organization. We will pass the test; we have no doubt about that and we will definitely get out of this situation slightly different. Stronger.

Let’s try to focus on the positive aspects of what is happening. We can do a lot of good in both professional and private matters.

The schemes and technological solutions developed now can contribute to the fact that in the future we will be even more flexible, because everything will be checked.

Temporary suspension of direct meetings can result in the fact that later they will be much more intense. We will appreciate the presence of another person and the possibility of direct conversation. Maybe we even put the phone aside and focus on the interlocutor instead of scrolling the screen during the conversation?

We will develop our existing skills. We will plan work better. Psychologists say it is good to define the principles of remote work. For example, specify the length and type of break – so that it does not take us an hour to make coffee, because we have just remembered about doing laundry. It is not easy at all, because the home atmosphere is conducive in finding a lot of things to do not related to work duties.

Remote work is based on slightly different principles than office work. An equal sign cannot be placed between them. Preparations for it are underway. Children must be explained that being at home does not mean having fun together and unlimited chatting time. It is worth treating every day as if we were to appear in the company. Start day at the same time, get ready to leave the house. Keep your daily routine as much as possible.

Whatever form our work will take in the near future, we wish everyone much health and patience. Let’s hope that soon the home office will again become a choice, not an obligation.
